INSTINTO (INSTINCT)
Museum of Contemporary Art
San Luis Potosí
July 19 to November 4 2018
The Museum of Contemporary Art of San Luis Potosí exhibited 41 artworks by Mexican artist Víctor Hugo Pérez, in which he displayed the esthetic and technical maturity garnered over his 20-year métier. From the beginnings of his professional journey in the 1990s, he clearly displayed his preference for certain themes and delineated the style that came to characterize his considerable visual production. The title of this exhibit, Instinct, accurately defines how this artist creates each of his works of art. Víctor Hugo Pérez has a clearly designated and very specific iconography that in certain aspects coincides with artistic production from other places and times. There are pieces with echoes of Picasso and Francis Bacon, though Pérez’s images could not be confused with these artists.
